What is a Clubhouse?

Beacon Clubhouse is a member-led community built on dignity, connection, and shared purpose. We’re not a treatment center or a place to “fix” people. We’re a place where people come to rebuild their lives — together.

Members and staff work side-by-side to create something meaningful: a community where everyone belongs and everyone contributes.

WHY IT MATTERS

Too many people in our community are living in isolation or survival mode. Beacon exists to change that.

Mental health challenges are more common—and more isolating—than most people realize. In the United States, nearly 1 in 5 adults experience a mental health condition each year, and many struggle to find connection, purpose, and a place where they truly belong.

For individuals living with serious mental illness, the barriers are even greater. Employment rates remain dramatically low, and opportunities for meaningful community participation are often limited—not because people aren’t capable, but because the right environments don’t exist.

When people have a place to belong and contribute, outcomes change.

Clubhouse programs like Beacon have been shown to improve employment outcomes, reduce hospitalizations, and increase overall quality of life through connection, purpose, and community.

In Minnesota, thousands of adults live with serious mental illness, and many face ongoing challenges with employment, housing stability, and social isolation.
